The Vancouver Junior Squash League is a new league designed to introduce junior squash players to inter-club play in a team atmosphere. Players will represent their home clubs in the league with teams composed of 4 players each match tie. Matches will be played on Saturdays or Sundays in the morning/afternoon. Clubs can register as many teams as they wish but must indicate the number of teams they would like to have to represent the club to the Squash BC Competitions Coordinator by January 4, 2024. Squash plans on having the first week of play starting January 13/14.
Player Eligibility
- All players must be in good standing with Squash BC and have an active Squash BC Junior Membership
- 16 years of age or younger at the time of the match
- Or 18 years of age or younger and have a Club Locker rating of 4.5 or lower
Divisions
For the 2024 VJSL Winter Season, Squash BC will pilot two divisions which are subjected to change based on league registration.
- Division 1
- This division will focus on players between Club Locker ratings of 3.0 and above
- Division 2
- This division will focus on players with Club Locker ratings of 3.5 and below
The goal of these divisions is to ensure all players have competitive and fun matches throughout the season. Squash BC will allow exemptions through the season if you have a player near the breaking point of each division which will be submitted through a form that will be shared close to the start of the season.
Registration
The Vancouver Junior Squash League has a registration fee of $30 per a player to a maximum of $300 per a team. Players can register now on the VJSL Club Locker Registration Page.
Clubs need to submit how many teams they would like to register for the season by January 4th, 2024.
League Rules
Squash BC will be releasing a full set of official league rules prior to the first week of play.
Weekly Team Composition:
- 4 Players each week
- At least 1 boy and 1 girl must play in the lineup
- Players are placed on their teams in order based on Club Locker ratings
