Registration Methods

VWSL is a team-based singles squash league and there are three ways to register:

Individual Registration: You can sign up as an individual to be a regular player or as a spare. You will need to identify your affiliated club. Not affiliated with a club? Not a problem! Sign up as unaffiliated on the sign-up page and the VWSL Coordinator will assist in finding you a team to play on.

Spare List: You can sign up to be a spare for the season on Club Locker and play up to 3 games throughout the season (Oct-May). After your third game, you will have to upgrade your registration to a regular player.

Team Registration: If your club pays for their players to register as a team, your Club Administrators/Pros or Captain will register you by emailing the Competitions Coordinator at vwsl@squashbc.com. Reach out to your Club Admin to confirm whether your club has team registration. Teams will then be allocated to Divisions based on their line-up of players.

Note: All players in any of the three registration methods must have a Full Squash BC membership.

Social Requirements: As this is a new league, the social hosting requirements will be defined as the league develops.

Juniors in VWSL

Squash BC acknowledges that VWSL in its current form is primarily an adult league. No juniors below the age of 17 can participate without approval of the league. To request approval of a junior player, please email the Competitions Coordinator at vwsl@squashbc.com.  Juniors will be held to the same standards as adults when competing in an adult division, including the expectation that they will be required to stay and referee.

Through a divisional assessment of the leagues sentiment towards juniors, we have developed the following definition of a Junior Player for use in the following requirements, when applied to the adult divisions of VWSL:

VWSL Junior Player Definition: A Junior Player is defined as any VWSL participant aged 11-16, with an active Club Locker rating below 4.5 (as of a specific match date). Therefore, players aged 17 and above, and those performing at a level of 4.5 and above will not be restricted by the following requirements.

Additional VWSL Information

Squash BC Memberships

All players will need to be active Squash BC members at the Adult, Young Adult, or Junior level to participate in VWSL. Please note that the Squash BC recreational membership does not allow for participation in and insurance coverage for VWSL. All 2022/23 Squash BC Memberships will expire on November 1, 2023. Please ensure that you have an active 2023/24 membership by November 1, 2023 and are aware of the membership changes for this year. We encourage all VWSL participants to set their membership to auto-renew in Club Locker to avoid any interruption to their standing and coverage.

Refereeing

Both teams are responsible to referee.  Please ensure every match has a referee.  Home clubs are encouraged to ensure starting referees are on hand to start play.  Please limit warm-up time to 5 minutes and time between games to 90 sec. You can learn more about becoming a certified squash referee on our Officiating Page.

Live Scoring

Please utilize live scoring on your club tablet or personal handheld device. Live scoring can be viewed on Club Locker as matches are in progress. This also ensures correct calculation of nightly league results, as the actual points are required in the 4 person team format in the event of tie-break.
