Vancouver Junior Squash League Launching in January

Squash BC is excited to announce the launch of the Vancouver Junior Squash League (VJSL), set to begin play this January. The VJSL will serve as a vital stepping stone for many junior athletes in the Lower Mainland, getting them inter club matches weekly in a supportive team environment.

Players will represent their home clubs in the league with teams of 4 players for each match tie. Matches will be played on Saturdays or Sundays in the morning/afternoon. Clubs can register as many teams as they wish but must indicate the number of teams they would like to have to represent the club to the Squash BC Competitions Coordinator by January 4, 2024.

The VJSL will pilot in January with two divisions, where Division 1 will focus on players between Club Locker ratings of 3.0 and above, and Division 2 will focus on players with a Club Locker Rating of 3.5 or below. The league is open to all juniors 16 years of age or younger at the time of the match or players who are 18 years of age or younger and have a Club Locker rating of 4.5 or lower. Teams will comprise four players with at least one boy and one girl each week being represented in each weekly tie.

The goal of these two divisions is to ensure all players have competitive and fun matches throughout the season. Squash BC will allow exemptions through the season if you have a player near the breaking point of each division which will be submitted through a form that will be shared close to the start of the season.

Players should contact their Club Pros or Coaches to see if your club will be entering a team into the VJSL. Squash BC will work on supporting players to find a team if your club decides not to enter a team for the 2024 VJSL Winter Season. Players can now register on Club Locker, or check the Squash BC Vancouver Junior Squash League webpage for more information.
