A Strong Showing in Victoria: 2026 BC Squash Championships Bring Community and Competition Together

From April 10–12, 2026, the BC squash community came together in Victoria for the 2026 BC Squash Championships, hosted at the University of Victoria CARSA. The weekend featured a full slate of competition across divisions, alongside a Junior Silver Series companion event, creating an exciting and inclusive environment for players of all ages and levels.

With strong participation from across the province and a particularly enthusiastic showing from the local Victoria squash community, the Championships highlighted both the depth of talent in BC and the continued growth of the sport on Vancouver Island.

High-Level Competition and Standout Performances

In the Mixed Open division, reigning provincial champion Liam Marrison successfully defended his title with a dominant performance throughout the tournament, dropping just one game en route to the final. Marrison defeated Ryan Picken in straight games (11-9, 11-8, 11-1) to retain the provincial crown.

The Men’s 40+ division delivered another strong highlight of the weekend, with Victoria’s Erik Zaremba putting together an impressive run on home courts. Zaremba defeated Shawnigan Lake’s Colin Whitney in the final (11-3, 11-2, 11-7), showcasing the strength of the Masters field.

Across the Tiered divisions and Junior events, players demonstrated competitive spirit, resilience, and high-quality squash, with several matches going the distance and providing exciting moments throughout the weekend.

A Growing and Engaged Community

One of the defining features of the 2026 Championships was the strong presence of the Victoria squash community. From players and spectators to volunteers and supporters, the local engagement helped create a vibrant and welcoming tournament atmosphere.

The addition of the Junior Silver Series companion event further reinforced Squash BC’s commitment to supporting the development pathway, providing valuable competitive opportunities for emerging athletes.
