As part of our ongoing commitment to growing and promoting squash across British Columbia, Squash BC is thrilled to partner with PacificSport Fraser Valley this summer to raise the awareness for accessible and inclusive sport opportunities. By building relationships with regional partners we can strengthen our presence and reach a diverse range of audiences across the province. This partnership reflects our 2023-2028 Strategic Plan and Goals:

  • To reach new communities
  • Engage more participants
  • Ensure that squash is truly a sport for everyone.

These partnerships allow our organizations  to share resources, strengthen local capacity, and increase accessibility to long-term pathways for athletes of all abilities to participate in and enjoy the game.

These efforts are part of our wider goal to increase the visibility of squash’s inclusive nature, from Squash in Schools programming that introduces squash to youth across the province, to our preparation for the wheelchair component of the 2026 National Championships. Initiatives and partnerships like this help us build awareness, break down barriers, and encourage participation among a broader range of athletes.

Our first activities were held during the PSFV’s summer camp as part of their adaptive experiences in Aldergrove.  Squash BC led wheelchair squash sessions, giving youth the chance to experience adaptive squash in a dynamic, inclusive, and welcoming environment. These sessions were led by Tasha Doucas and Shawn Zwierzchowski.

“I have worked with kids that have disabilities, and it is always a humbling experience. They are resilient, positive, and always up for the challenge of learning something new. During this camp, we ran sessions with able-bodied kids. The program was all about creating awareness of what it is like to be in a wheelchair and how they play the sport.”
