Women’s Only Squash Canada Community Instructor Course
As part of Squash BC’s ongoing commitment to advancing Gender Equity in Coaching, we recently hosted a Women’s Only Community Squash Instructor Course, made possible through the Canadian Women in Sport Gender Equity in Coaching grant. The course was designed to provide a supportive and empowering environment for women looking to take their first steps into coaching.
Taking place over three consecutive Tuesdays, the course welcomed 9 enthusiastic participants. While these women may not coach full-time, their passion for squash and community development was evident throughout the sessions.
Led by experienced Learning Facilitator Tasha Doucas, each session offered practical instruction in grassroots-level squash coaching. From beginner to grassroots clinics, the goal was to equip participants with the skills and confidence to assist trained coaches in their clubs and communities.
We extend our thanks to the Arbutus Club, Vancouver Racquets Club, and Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club for their generous support and warm hospitality. A huge thank you to Tasha Doucas for her dedication and leadership, and to Canadian Women in Sport for their continued partnership and support.
We look forward to seeing the impact these new Trained Community Squash Instructors will have across BC!
Okanagan Community Squash Instructor Course
Squash BC was excited to bring our Community Squash Instructor Course for the first time to the Okanagan region, offering an exciting development opportunity for local squash enthusiasts. Held on Saturday, May 3, the one-day intensive session took place at the Lakeshore Racquets Centre in Summerland, and marked an important step in expanding grassroots coaching in this vibrant squash community.
Led by Squash BC Roving Ambassador Coordinator and Learning Facilitator Shawn Zwierzchowski, the course welcomed 5 participants who spent the day learning the foundations of squash instruction.
We are especially thrilled to have offered this course in the Okanagan region, helping to grow the coaching community beyond the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. The passion for squash in the area is strong, and this course represents an important investment in the sport’s future across the province.
A sincere thank you to Shawn Zwierzchowski for his expert facilitation, and to the Lakeshore Racquets Centre for being such gracious hosts and supporters of coach development.
We’re excited to see how these newly trained Community Squash Instructors will contribute to squash growth in the Okanagan!
Congratulations to the 15 Coaches
Squash BC wishes the best of luck, and we look forward to your impact on many different squash communities across BC.
