BC athletes had another strong year at the Canadian Junior Closed Squash Championships presented by AirSprint Private Aviation! Many of BC’s juniors made the trip to Calgary, Alberta to attend the national championships hosted by The Glencoe Club. Our juniors had a very strong showing winning 4 of the 10 National Championship titles and claiming 14 medals this season. Congratulations to BC’s Joanna Zheng, (U11G), Lily Fan (U13G), Joelle Kim (U17G), and Maria Min (U19G) on winning championship titles!

In addition to the amazing performances above, Evergreen Squash Club’s Roman Bicknell was awarded the Alex Doucas Award which is presented to a competitor who best exemplifies the spirit of fair play, enjoyment of life and commitment to excellence, as exhibited by Alex Doucas during his lifetime. Roman was selected and nominated by the coaches and officials in attendance after Roman’s strong play throughout the weekend and finishing an amazing 4th place in a very competitive Boy’s U19 division.
Squash BC extends a HUGE thank you to all our BC parents, coaches, and players who travelled to the event. You all contributed to this result. It is incredible to have such a dedicated community behind our athletes.
We also want to recognize and thank Squash Canada, The Glencoe Club, and all the event organizers, volunteers, and officials who worked tirelessly to make this championship a resounding success.
Finally, congratulations to all of our athletes who competed in this event. Your performance has once again demonstrated that BC is a force to be reckoned with on the national stage. We are so proud of your achievements and look forward to what the future holds for each of you. Here’s to the continued success of our young athletes!
