Competitive Squash Returns with the Junior Gold Series Evergreen

After a long offseason, competitive squash returned to British Columbia this past weekend with the first of two Junior Gold Series events happening this month. The Junior Gold Series #1 was hosted by Evergreen Squash Club from September 10-12, 2021.

62 players competed in the event, across three age categories. As a means of creating more competitive opportunities ahead of the junior national championships happening next month, this event and the upcoming Junior Gold Series #2 event (hosted by Jericho Tennis Club) split the typical age categories. This allowed top juniors to “play up” in an older age category in one of two weekends. As well, larger draws were split into tiers to increase the quality of matches at every round. A list of all winners, finalists, and final-round scores is available below.

Squash BC would like to thank Tournament Director Thomas Brinkman and Tournament Referee Mike Tooley for working diligently throughout the event. As well, Squash BC appreciates all staff and volunteers who contributed to the event’s success.
