This week at the 2019 Canadian Junior Open from The Club at White Oaks at Niagara-on-the-Lake, two Richmond BC athletes earned a well fought first place finish.
Gabriel Yun, 16 captured a first place in the highly competitive boys U17 category over his opponent from Guyana. Gabriel (left in photo) who is a student at Vancouver College has been a consistent high performer in junior squash in British Columbia.
Ocean Ma, also of Richmond had a spectacular performance in this national tournament with a first place finish in the U13 division. This is an impressive rise for the thirteen year old J.N. Burnett Secondary School student who finished 6th in the same event last year with only two years of training under her belt.
Both junior athletes train at the West Coast Squash Academy under Marco Toriz.
The annual national tournament started last Friday, December 6 and will end today Tuesday, December 10.
