On March 6th, Sport BC held its 57th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards, where Squash BC proudly had three finalist nominations. Squash BC is excited to announce that Tasha Doucas won the President’s Award and the Team Canada National Junior Squash Team won the Team of the Year Award. We would also like to extend a huge congratulations to Gerald Poulton on his Finalist Nomination for Master of the Year

Team of the Year – Team Canada National Junior Squash Team

The Team of the Year Award recognizes an amateur team competing in a Sport BC-sanctioned league while representing British Columbia. The Team Canada National Junior Squash Team, composed entirely of BC athletes, met these criteria and was honoured with this prestigious award.

The team featured Ocean Ma, Spring Ma, Maria Min, and Hermione Cao—four exceptional athletes who were ranked #1 to #4 in Canada and BC Junior Girls, as well as within the top 8 of the BC Women’s rankings. Their remarkable achievements include winning gold at the 2023 Canada Winter Games and bronze at the 2024 World Junior Team Championships, solidifying their place among the nation’s top young squash players.

President’s Award – Tasha Doucas
